After a long and tiring struggle with a score of 3: 0 against SMAN 1 Turen on Tuesday night (12/11), the SMANAS volleyball team competed again with epic points to fight for the title in the final round of the Economy Volley Ball (EVB) Cup II. Attended by many spectators who filled the stands of GKB FIP Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), the SMANAS volleyball players spurred their burning enthusiasm against SMAN 2 Batu. A fierce battle between the two schools was inevitable.
Sharp smashes, amazing spikes, and long rallies were performed very smoothly and beautifully by the SMANAS Volleyball team. This made the event held by the UM Faculty of Economics on Wednesday (11/13) more tense, but lively. The shouts of supporters from the two teams that competed echoed the FIP UM GKB.
“The game was fierce and very exciting, since in the semi-finals and even finals,” said Nashru Aji Jawanoko, one of the commentators throughout the match. This student of Development Economics at the Faculty of Economics UM also admitted that he was amazed at the two teams that entered this final round because during the semifinals, SMAN 2 Batu competed up to 5 sets and Malang National High School won 3 sets immediately.
As a result, the SMANAS volleyball team successfully won this final round over SMAN 2 Batu by winning 3 sets at a time. Set 1 = 25:16, set 2 = 25:18, and set 3 = 25:22. The event which was attended by 20 schools throughout Malang was closed with the closing ceremony and the distribution of trophies and prizes to the winners.
“Seeing the enormous interest this year, I hope this EVB Cup can grow even bigger, not only nationally, but also internationally,” hoped Ahmad Maulidio Pratama, one of the EVB Cup II committees from the Management department. The same thing was also conveyed by Nashru Aji Jawanoko who also hoped that this EVB Cup could develop into a more prestigious one and could expand coverage not only for men’s volleyball, but also women’s volleyball.
“There is no other word besides Alhamdulillah. We are ready to beat the kids up for the next achievement, “said Pak Suwandi, the SMANAS volleyball coach. Mrs. Sujiati, mother of Berryl Arhinza, also expressed her gratitude for the victory achieved by the SMANAS volleyball team. “Salute to the SMANAS volleyball team. Hopefully these achievements can always be maintained, “ she added.
In addition, Ms. Lilik also expressed pride and gratitude for the blessings given by Allah SWT to SMANAS. “Really, it’s a struggle that has sweet fruit,” said the Physics teacher at SMANAS. Rama Ayub Kusuma, one of the SMANAS volleyball players also expressed his gratitude beyond measure. Rama said he was happy to be the champion because he was injured during training at the beginning of the match.
In accordance with the theme of this year’s EVB Cup II event, “Build a Solidarity and Burn Up Your Passion with Fair Play Games”, hopefully the SMANAS volleyball team will also be more solid and always sharpen their ability to carve out achievements. A sense of pride was also spoken by Ms. Eka Listyaningsih. “Thank you, son, you have fought an extraordinary struggle,” said the Deputy Student of SMANAS. It is because the SMANAS men’s volleyball team managed to win first place for a month, in three championships.
Once again, congratulations to the SMANAS volleyball team. Always Work and Succeed, my SMANAS. (hm // bya)
